India, Oman in Gas Talks with Iran

Monday, September 26, 2011

Iran’s talk on gas export to Oman and India reached hopeful results, the caretaker of the National Iranian gas Export Company (NIGEC), Hossein Bidarmaghz said.

He went on to say that, an Indian delegation will travel to Iran to continue negotiations on construction of a gas pipeline that would carry Iran’s gas to the country through international waters, Iran’s SHANA news agency reported.

“India is interested in construction of a seabed gas pipeline in order to not to pay any transit fee for gas imports“, he said.

It’s worth mentioning that, construction of a gas pipeline from Oman to India is another way of sending Iranian gas to India through a sea pipeline from the midway.

“Iran and Oman also had hopeful talks over gas sale and both sides have reached an agreement to implement their deals with participation of a highly experienced third country with high level of activities in oil and gas industry“, he concluded.

Earlier Javad Owji, managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), had said Iran-Oman gas deal would be finalized up to the end of the current Iranian calendar year that ends on 20 March 2012
